Thanks to the Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities grant, the Skagway Public Library’s new Sensory Corner is officially open in the Children’s Room!! Visitors are welcome to come in and check out the new color tiles, felt board, busy boards, fidget toys, noise-cancelling headphones, light table, and more anytime the library is open!
There will also be designated “Sensory Time” on the last Sunday of every month; this will include dim lights, special sensory lighting, and extra sensory toys during the library’s open hours that day.
For the first Sensory Sunday on Sunday, April 27th, join us in celebrating this new space! Come check out the new additions, enjoy some treats, and celebrate the library as a safe and comfortable place for everyone!
** Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities is an initiative of the American Library Association (ALA) in collaboration with the Association for Rural & Small Libraries (ARSL).
